Bampton is situated midway between Tiverton and Dulverton. It is in a conservation area on the edge of Exmoor surrounded by rolling green hills, typical of the picturesque Devon countryside.
It is a small town with the feel of a village. The residents are rightly proud of their six 'Britain in Bloom' awards and the town is a wonderful sight during the summer months, with blooms in every spare available space.
The river Batherm runs through the centre of the town, quite close to the cottage, and provides great fun on August Bank Holiday Monday when the annual Duck Race takes place. There are many other activities going on on that day, including teddies parachuting from the church roof (don't forget to bring yours) and many local crafts and stalls.
As well as all the activities in Bampton it is also an ideal base for many countrside activities including, walking, fishing, riding, and touring, For more information see our Activities page.
